My Winter Face

Hi all! Happy fourth snow day! For some I'm sure it's getting annoying by now, but I have to say, I do love a bit of snow so I'm not too fussed!

I was influenced to do a bit of snow photography yesterday after seeing Anna (of Vivianna Does Makeup) upload an Instagram of her photographing products in the snow. I always find that photographing products is a bit of a tricky task, as my house is often very dark, so I've really got to catch the right light, whereas snow is like nature's blank canvas, and perfect for systematically placing a mascara without it rolling about all over the shop! Fab.

Similar to my last one, this will be a roundup of products that I am currently using religiously on my face. Some are the same but there are some newbies in the mix too! So here goes...

Here are my little beauties nestled in the snow. Needless to say I made this photo-op a speedy one so my prized NARS duo didn't get ruined!
So to start off, I will mention the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. I bought this a couple of months ago after hearing a lot of great things about it. I don't have really bad skin problems, but I would like to banish some of my permanent blemishes. I bought this alongside the Effaclar A.I, which is more of a targeted spot banisher, and I use them both at night, and the Duo on its own in the morning. I haven't seen amazing results yet but I find that it does stop any awful spots from breaking out.

I have just opened a new bottle of my beloved Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation. I couldn't really live without this, so I bought a back up a few weeks ago when it was on offer for about £5 in Asda (steal!!). This really is an awesome foundation, but I would like to try something different soon (I'm thinking the Laura Mercier Silk Creme?).
I'm sticking with my NYX eyeshadow in True Taupe for brows, but if I want a darker, more defined brow, I'll reach for the shade Bark in my Sleek Au Naturel palette which I got with December's Glossybox and is ahhhmazing. I'm also using this palette a lot for everyday use and my favourite shades are Cappucino, Conker, Taupe and Nougat to highlight.
Collection is starting to take over my makeup bag, with their Super Size Fat Lash mascara. It gives fantastic length and definition without being clumpy, but I do find that it really comes off under the eyes, which is sooo annoying, so I think I'll save this for days when I don't need the colour that stays put. However, for £2.99, can I really complain?
As last time, I'm still loving my GOSH Velvet Touch Primer, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder; all permanent staples in my bag, and all budget buys!

A new addition to my daily makeup, and one that has been on my wishlist for months is the NARS Laguna/Deep Throat duo. I reviewed this not long ago, you can check out some more in depth thoughts on it here, but in short, this is a really wearable and extremely pretty duo, and I love it.

Finally, a little gem that is perfect for the winter months is the NUXE Rêve De Miel lip balm. This is the only lip balm that I've tried that really feels like it has worked straight away. I often put this on before bed and your lips feel so incredibly soft in the morning. I like to apply this during the day too, but if it is too cold it can be quite bitty which shows up on the lips, so it is at its best when it's at room temperature. This works amazingly straight after a lip scrub, and I often do this before I apply lipstick so it goes on smoothly.

So that's it! These are my little helpers for the winter months. Certain products will definitely stick it out all year round, I'm sure, but I find that this combination of products is working so well for me at the moment.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and do let me know if you'd like to see more like this!

    1. Yeah it's very highlt recommended, I've found it keeps spots at bay, but hasn't done much for my blemishes just yet. I guess it's meant for skin with more problems!

  11. I've heard SO many good things about the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation but I've never tried it. What would you say it's like in terms of coverage and which foundations would you compare it to?

    1. It's a really good foundation, the best high street one I've tried! Coverage is medium but buildable I'd say, and I've heard that it's similar to Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua but I've never tried it so coulnd't compare! I'd definitely recommend it though, and there always seems to be good offers with Rimmel!
